DublinTown features on Dublin City FM every Friday morning to talk about some of the many things happening in the city. If you missed us on air, don’t worry as below are a number of things you can do this weekend in the city.
Despite the looming Storm Jorge, there’s plenty to do in town this weekend, from live music to good food and shopping too. Find out all of what’s on below!
Neon Party at TRAMLINE – Friday 28th February, from 10pm
Nobody does a good party night out like TRAMLINE and this Friday 28th February they’re bringing the neon to the party! Come join in on all the fun as they’ll have FREE professional glow paint on the night, a body paint gogos show, 2 Dancefloors and 2 DJs. Plus, on top of that, they have some excellent drink offers including €2 Budweiser, €3 Fosters pints and €3 Sol bottles all night long. Doors are from 10pm with FREE ENTRY with your Evenbrite tickets until 11pm. Therearefter entry costs €5 with a free beer until midnight, then €7 with a free beer afterwards.
National Leprechaun Museum Host FREE Leap Year Day – Saturday 29th February, 11am-5pm
Did you know that our brains are still growing until we’re around 30? It’s called neuroplasticity, and basically means that makes you a big kid at 29! So to celebrate all of the big kids, the National Leprechaun Museum is giving ALL 29 year olds FREE entry on any daytime tour from 11am-5pm! Just show your ID on the day, and you’re in!
Vintage Boombox at Café en Seine – Saturday 29th February, 2-5pm
Playing a live set in the beautiful Street Garden of Café en Seine, Vintage Boombox are bringing their jazz sounds to old tunes and new styles onto the stage. You can enjoy Sunday drinks and maybe some brunch or a late lunch and soak up the atmosphere in the heart of town.
Brazilian Soul at Art Café – Saturday 29th February, 6.30-8.30pm
Enjoy dinner and live music with this charming duo! Singer Cibele Sabioni and guitarist Daniel Barilli will take centre stage in a wonderfully chill vibe as they interpret songs by Brazilian composers like Tom Jobim, Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, and also reinterpretations of international musicians from a jazz perspective. Entrance is free, plus it’s BYOB when dining in! (Corkage €5 per bottle of wine.) The Art Café is located on Frenchmans Lane off Gardiner Street, just around the corner from Bus Áras.
Shopping in Dublin Town
When it comes to shopping, nowhere has the variety of stores and people like town. Whether you’re looking for a new suit or the ring to propose with, here are a few of our recommendations this weekend!
– John Tweed, Clarendon Street – Look to this new menswear store in the Creative Quarter for classy menswear, formal suits and footwear. If you’ve an upcoming wedding, want to dress to impress for the races this summer or just need a quality new suit, make John Tweed your go-to!
– Brown Thomas, Grafton Street – Their bridal accessories space features beautiful designer pieces ideal for any bride’s ‘something new’. Excsluively open until March 18th, find the space on the Accessories Hall, Groudn Floor.
– The Brow Boss, Drury Street – Suzy of The Brow Boss is one of the best in the business for getting your brows in tip top shape. Book in with her today, where you’ll find her downstairs of The Grafton Barber. Ideal for a his & her pamper!
– Gear Jewellers, Parnell Street – Of course the Leap Year Day is infamous for proposals, so if you’re looking to propose or pick up the ring for the near future, this family-run store has a stunning selection of rings as well as fine jewellery.
Where to Eat & Drink
– Isabelle’s, South Anne Street – Excellent for New York-Italian cuisine and delicious cocktails, Isabelle’s is also very buggy friendly with an outdoor terrace too.
– PYG, Coppinger Row – One of the biggest spots in town for nightlife and weekend socialising, PYG have announced they’ve scrapped their entrance fee and swapped for donations, which will go to the Peter McVerry fund.
– Flip, George’s Arcade – A cool new spot for plant-based burgers and fries, Flip is the brainchild behind Pamela & Lorraine of Blazing Salads.
– O’Neills Pub & Kitchen, Suffolk Street X Andrew Street – If you want hearty pub grub for these cold days, O’Neills is where to go. Enjoy alongside a good pint and oftentimes trad music, you’ll find this historic pub beside the Molly Malone statue & one of our DublinTown kiosks!
