TOPSHOP/TOPMAN Autumn Winter 16 Collections Press Day
This morning I had the pleasure of taking a trip to the Penthouse Suite at The Dean Hotel to get a sneak peak at the TOPSHOP and TOPMAN Autumn/Winter 2016 collection. It got me really excited about updating my Autumn/Winter wardrobe, here’s all you need to know!
Starting with The TOPMAN AW16 collection, it was clear to see that texture, funky prints, corduroy trousers and tailoring are definitely hot trends for next season. Within the TOPMAN brand there are a number of different collections; TOPMAN DESIGN, TOPMAN LUX, TOPMAN PREMIUM AND Topman Ltd, each collection offering something unique for next season.
TOPMAN Design is an in house designed premium collection from TOPMAN with a focus on relaxed sensibility. The TOPMAN Design AW16 collection is all about texture – chiffon shirts, velvet jackets and denim suits. Looking through the collection, longline coats, wide leg trousers and oversized jumpers mae a regular appearance.
TOPMAN LUX AW16 – an example of forward thinking menswear, lends itself to a sportier design aesthetic with cuts kept wide and cropped. TOPMAN PREMIUM on the other hand is smart casual in style with an emphasis on attention to detail and quality. Finally, Topman Ltd consists of core classics which serve as transeasonal wardrobe essentials with flexibility and layering being at the centre of the collection. Topman Ltd designs are functional and interchangeable.
In terms of womenswear, there where a number of different themes running through the TOPSHOP AW16 collection. As I browsed through the collection each rail of clothing offered something different and unique whilst all remaining effortlessly sexy and wearable. In terms of textures and prints houndstooth is the print of the season. TOPSHOP has successfully put its own stamp on this iconic print creating voluminous trousers, frayed edge minis and oversized duster coats.
The first rail I browsed through was filled with gorgeous vintage style designs that looked like one off pieces made with rich velvets, sequins and plenty of sparkle. These designs were ideal for a special occasion or dressy night out. The next rail offered urban, sporty aesthetics with casual denims and embroidered bomber jackets. These styles will definitely appeal to the contemporary fashionista on the go.
The outerwear section of the AW16 collection, a highlight of the showcase was composed of statement winter jackets. Aviator jackets, oversized biker jackets and bubble jackets are set to be big next season, particularly in bright pastel colours and metallics.
I was also lucky enough to preview a couple of the shoes and bags from the AW16 collection and they definitely lived up to expectations. There was a huge amount of variety in terms of style from studded biker boots and embroidered ankle boots to boots completely covered in fur! The bags kept in line with the vintage theme and attention to detail and individuality was definitely a focus.
A really exciting part of the preview for me was the TOPSHOP Beauty AW16 Showcase. Spearheaded by TOPSHOP Beauty Consultant Hannah Murray, the AW16 TOPSHOP beauty look takes inspiration from sixties beauty and seventies punk to create a tough TOPSHOP girl with attitude.
Within TOPSHOP beauty is The Nude Collection – a catwalk inspired edit of beautifully understated nude hues in lightweight creamy formulas to help achieve the perfect polished look with ease. The Nude Collection launches in October 2016 and consistes of Smoke Sticks, Nude Lips and Nails!
Liquid Lips have been a trend ever since Kylie Jenners lips became the talk of the Universe last year. TOPSHOP Beauty have picked up on this trend and created a product with an intense matte finish in a range of richly pigmented shades. Longwear technology and pigmented coverage means these products are sure to leave your lips looking great all day and all night so pucker up!
