H&M: First Look at Studio Collection SS16
After the incredible reception of the Balmain launch H&M seemingly can do no wrong. The new studio collection of spring summer 2016 was presented in the Gallery of Photography on Thursday 28th January and now begins the waiting game for its arrival to our stores from 18th February.
The rooms were filled with subtly spiced candles and indoor plants giving the feel of an exotic awakening. Craft made ceiling hangings were created right in front of guests and made as beautiful take home gifts. See here for more information on the geo prism designs.
The theme of adventure and travel encapsulate the collection with the view that H&M’s girl is exploring and finding herself in the bright lights of a city or somewhere exotic. Neutrals were awakened by sun-faded tones, new hits of eggshell and tea dyed naturals. Feminine functionality never strays from H&M fashion and this was seen in the collection’s utility wear, use of layering and urban wear. Some favourite pieces were the yarn-dyed stripe workwear blazer and the native print dress. With these items the summer will seem endless.
The menswear collection was my favourite with a similar theme of the boxy, utilitarian silhouette as seen in Kanye West’s Yeezy collection. The long T-shirt is here to stay reinforcing the idea of layering. Beige, grey, black and mustard are the staple colours with refined sportiness and fresh tailoring being the backbone of the pieces. Some favourite pieces were the zip up suede beige jacket and the functional parka.
I don’t know about you but I already have some items picked out for my holidays!
