Donation over discount at retro store Fat Face
This year’s black Friday saw edgy Dublin retailer Fat Face go against the grain opting to sell at regular prices instead of offering the usual discounts in order to donate 20% of sales to a charity close to home.
The chosen charity for the campaign was “A Little Lifetime”. A Little Lifetime Foundation is a voluntary organisation which supports those in Ireland who have gone through the pain of losing a child at the time of birth.
They offer support to bereaved parents and families by providing training for Support Team Volunteers, heightening awareness about perinatal death, organising public meetings, producing information leaflets, arranging regular Parents’ Support Meetings and producing A Little Lifetime Foundation Memories Collection.
Speaking to manager Loretta, she advised the Black Friday sales were never about profiting but simply about raising awareness for a cause close to her heart. Through Social Media and window display, Fat Face strived to raise awareness for those who have experienced perinatal loss. The promotions kicked off two weeks before Black Friday via Social Media where customers were advised that by shopping in store or online with Fatface between 21st and 28th of November 2016, they would in fact be donating to the charity.
Cumulatively, Fat Face stores around Dublin collected close to €2,000, which was proudly collected by “A Little Lifetime” on Thursday, February 16th. With the goal of raising funds and awareness for the charity accomplished, this is something they hope to continue in the years to follow.
From everyone at #DublinTown, we want to say a huge congratulations to Fat Face on this incredible achievement! For more information on their store, click here.
