Afternoon Tea Re-launch at The Conrad
The Conrad Hotel is a centre of opulence and stylish elegance set in the heart of DublinTown. Located on the beautiful Earlsfort Terrace across from the grand facade of the National Concert Hall, it is the perfect location to while away the hours of an afternoon.
Today saw the re-launch of the Conrad’s Afternoon Tea and we were there to savour in all its splendour. To use a cliche; it’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it!
Upon arrival in the grand foyer we were escorted to the elevator where we were brought to the 6th floor and the Presidential Suite. Delighted that no one had noticed that the riff raff were in the building, we were warmly greeted in the suite and swiftly handed a glass of champagne. The food was laid out beautifully, in a tiered fashion and looked almost too good to eat, but we managed. Head chef Dmitry gave us a quick run through what was on offer before we were allowed tuck in.
The tea sticks to the classics, open sandwiches, scones and desserts, but gives them a modern twist with emphasis on food provenance. The combination of the two is a triumph!
The Guinness bread with smoked Irish salmon and creamy avocado was one of our faves, not to mention the free range egg bound with chive and truffle aioli on a brioche roll. For dessert, the chocolate glazed brownie cake was like a tiny chocolate explosion on my taste buds and gave me my chocolate fix for the week!
I could go on and on, but I don’t want to ruin the surprise. So next time you’re in town and feel a bit peckish and parched, get yourself into the Conrad Hotel and indulge your senses with their afternoon tea. To top it off you’ll get a gift of strawberry and orange macaroons to take with you and give everyone at home a taste of what they missed!
